I'm Breezy

TWO cookies to whoever can tell me what the title to this post is a reference to.  It's a trickier one, but still feasible.

So, basically I've been uber (I wish I knew how to make umlats? above U's. Those are so cool.) swamped with work lately (and indescribably lazy)  I haven't posted much.  Lo siento mi amors!  I think I'm going to have a rather large update tomorrow.  yay!  I actually have a couple posts planned.

Snow white is on tv right now! I haven't seen this movie in ages! crazy.

Anyway, I have to keep this breezy because : (Choose the BEST answer)  (I always hate these questions on tests.  If there is more than one right answer than how can you say it's wrong because it's not the BEST?!)

a. I'm cooking dinner
b. I'm working on personal finance homework
c. I'm watching Snow White
d. I'm lazy

If you chose b. Congratulations!!! you win a to be determined prize. (don't contact me, I'll contact you.)

Hope all is going splendidly :)  It's almost the weekend!!!!

Also, I have my O. Chem lab practical tomorrow!!! Ahhhhh!!!! Wish me luck! I'm gonna need it....

P.S.  the reference from the title is to the Friends episode "The One Where No One is Ready" where Monica leaves a message on Richard's answering machine after they break up and is trying to sound "breezy" but says "I'm breezy" in her message therefore negating the breeziness of the situation. You follow? Good.

Adventureland

So, after the crazyness that was my last post I can now share my fun adventure with my bbf (boy best friend), C!  We started off planning to go to church and noon.  I knew this would be an issue, cause boy loves himself some sleep.  So 10:30 rolls around and I text him to remind him, church!  At 11:08 I get this : "Poop! Ok! Noon right?  Look up st. alususisisis something like that church" (St. Aloysius - we wanted to try out a new fancier church than our other one).  Needless to say it just doesn't work out and by the time we get there we feel awkward about going in late.  BUT the church looks beautiful! So we're going to try to go today for bonus points with Jesus.  It took awhile to get there so I took some pictures of the trip there, and the walk back to campus:

So instead we decided to go to Starbucks and C bought me tea and a birthday cake pop.  Looked adorable, but didn't taste nearly as good :( and we talked and got to catch up.  C was talking about how he was going to be a coffee drinker, and how that was goign to start being his thing becuase it looks professional.  Needless to say, I don't see this in his future.  Coffee doesn't...er...agree with his system.  he was very vocal about this.

So we checked out the book store and the art gallery in the union and were heading back (his tum tum hurt) when we chanced upon a gold man.  It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and the larpers (people who dress up in medieval looking gear and battle with foam swords and shields and whatnot) had taken to university lawn. Score! So we watched them for much longer thanwe imagined (bow and arrow girl was a riot) when we chanced upon ANOTHER adventure.  There was crime scene tape blocking off a portion of University hall.  Naturally, we had to go investigate.  After all of our expertise predicting of what happend (crimes of passion, suicide...) we found out later and a portion of the building had fallen off so they taped it off. Scandalous, I know.

So after all that fun stuff we were heading back forril when we noticed the education memorial museum was open!!! It's a little one room schoolhouse from the 20s/30s that's on campus that has all the old desks and artifacts and schoolbooks on display.  It was actually really cool!  And they had an old machine thing that makes pictures look 3-d.  It was awesome!!

All in all, for a day that was supposed to be about going to church, it turned out to be quite the adventure.

hanh! <--this is the noise C likes to make. A lot.  It's from a song...but I can't remember which one.

Also, to get it out of the way: This is a really old outfit that I never posted (caught a case of the lazy.) I actually really liked this one.

ALSO: The Pretty Little Liars finale was on last night, and there was not nearly enough Aria/Ezra!!

Groove Yo' Body

Katy Perry songs are my guilty pleasure...I can't help it (and I don't want to, fool!)!  My newest obsessions : E.T. and Last Friday Night.  I don't know why, give them a chance and see for yourself!

As an update to my previous post, the corned beef ended up turning out pretty well! But there was definetely room for improvement.  It wasn't nearly as swoon worthy as the ones that my folks make.  But the cabbage turned out really well, and my potatoes (even though they took fo'evaaaaaaaa) were ridonk delicious.  Yes, I just said redonk, what'cha gonna do about it?!

So after that my friend from school who's been in classes with me for the past couple years now invited me to go out for Patty's day.  He's a really cool, chill guy we get along great, but then he always has to say something to make things awkward because he wants my goods.  Anyway, he's asked me to go out with him a couple times and I always turn him down or say I'm busy or whatever, but this time he said he had some friends coming in from out of town that he wanted me to meet and that he thought I would like.  I really didn't feel like going out, but I figured it would be a good way to get a hang out with him in, without the possiblity of it turning out too awkward since there would be a group of us.  I will call this friend A.

So he picks me up and I meet his friend R in the car.  He was pretty cool, but will get much more interesting later.  Tall, skinny kid majoring in criminal justice, really good at telling stories.  Gets really animated, and has photos to go along with everything on his phone and whatnot.  Super nice as well.

We drive to A's apartment to switch cars and there I meet A and G.  A was also super nice, and is going into teaching English so I talked to her a lot about books and whatnot.  G  is also in criminal justice, and he is basically my twin.  I met myself in guy form, it was ridiculous.  We have a good time then go back to A's apartment and start watching Muppet Treasure Island (becuase G was going into nastalgia overload) then once A's roommate came back and insisted we change the movie we started watching Labrynth, feel asleep and all seemed well.

WRONG!

I wake up before anyone and I'm just kind of chillin' in my chair cuddling into my blanket for warmth (it was coooooooold in that apartment) when I hear R shuffle.  I see him stagger ( and I mean STAGGER) into the bathroom and then hear some projectile, excorcist style vomitting noises coming from the area and hear things crashing to the ground.  R comes out and I ask him if he's alright but he ignores me and stag-gers to the kitchen where he then proceeds to fall backwards into a cabinet containing all the liquor, cookbooks, and pots and pans etc...then rebounds into the dining room table, knocks the leaf of the table down and everything on the table comes crashing down.  All the while R is shaking rather violently.

One of the scariest moments of my life.  Turns out he's diabetic but was able to calm himself down and once he checked his sugar levels he said he was fine he was just really drunk.  (even though he was FINE the night before...)

and THAT was my Patty's day.  Had the morning after never occured it would have been fantastic!  Ah well, can't win 'em all.

St. Patty's Day

So today is St. Patty's Day, and in honor of which, I was hoping to impress my roomie with an awesome corned beef and cabbage dinner with potatoes - one of my favorite dinners!!

I busted out my crock pot (which may just be one of my favorite bday presents ever!!!) and started assembling it all around 9:30 this morning.  Then the first problem arose....how much water do I add?!  I text my dad...no response, so I go to that lovely thing we call the internet.  Every site said so the meat is completely covered. So I went along and did as I was told.  Then problem 2.  WHEN SHOULD I ADD THE CABBAGE?!  I always knew my family to just put it in at the begining...but this website said to put it in later so it doesn't get too soggy.  So I wait, and get a response from my dad saying it's alright if the cabbage isn't covered.

Then, I go off to class, impressed with myself and pumped for my awesome dinner to come.  After Genetics (which was particularly intersting today) I went to the rec ( I WILL LOSE THIS WEIGHT, ya hear?) and ran a mile.  I don't know if it's because I've been add an incline ( a whopping 2 on the treadmill) but I have been struggling with it a lot more than I thought.  I know it'd been about 3-4 weeks since my last good run..maybe 2-3 weeks, I can't remember...anyway it's been a battle, but I'm pushing through! (holler!)

I come home, and the first alarm goes off.  I am not met with the awesome overwhelming apartment filling smell of corned beef.  I look in my crock and my corned beef is grey!!!!!!!!  Now I know that can't be normal.  The little bugger still has about an hour left but I'm nervous.  I'll post pictures of the result.

Outfit post to come!!!

update: alright, it's grey on the outside, pink on the inside, but hard as a brick.  Corned beef you will be the death of me!!!!  But, on a good note, the cabbage looks delicious!!! yumm-o!

Blast.

I thought I had DVDFAB on my computer. Turns out it was just the icon, and I don't have the program.

But I already bought 20 bucks worth of blank DVDs.  :(

I guess I'll just return them.

That's what I get for not inspecting further....

35 Books n 2011

So I realized it's been awhile since I updated on the list of books I've read so far.  I'm falling behind :( I foresaw this happening during the schoolyear, and I know I'll make up for any lost time during the summer, so I'm not too concerned right now.  I'm going to start giving them a rating, the best being 5 stars, here we go!

  1. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (******) J.K. Rowling
    • I remember first reading this book, and loving it but being SO angry at Harry for SPOILER ALERT: Sirius dying.  The more I read it though, the more and more I fall in love with it.  It has one of my FAVORITE chapters of all time (the one after Sirius dies where Harry and Dumbledore have their chat. So. Awesome.) I LOVE this book.
  2. Harry Potter and the Half- Blood Prince (******) J.K. Rowling
    • This one was altogether lighter and darker than a lot of the other books (yes, that makes perfect sense) and I loove it!!  There were lots of great scenes between characters that  really loved and the memories added an interesting background into Voldemort which I feel was incredibly important.  SOO good!!
  3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (******)  J.K. Rowling
    • What can I say, besides perfection.  It's heartwrenchingly beautiful.
  4. The Perks of Being a Wallflower (****) Stephen Chobsky
    • Very honest and simple look into the life of a wallflower named Charlie and his journey into finding friends and dealing with girlfriends, crushes, death and everything else that comes with life.  Was a little concerned by the Mtv Books label, but it's totally worth a read, instantly became a favorite!
  5. The Tales of Beedle the Bard (*****) J.K. Rowling
    • Quick, easy read but entertainng, stories none the less.  I really enjoyed it and the sores themes and moral are not just relevant to the young witch/warlock!  If you're a fan of Harry Potter it's a must read!
  6. East of Eden (*****) John Steinbeck
    • The story follows two twin brothers, focusing more on Adam and the lives they lead.  It is a loose parallel to the story of Cain and Abel, but not in the way that you're thinking.  I couldn't put this book down, it was soooooooooooo gooooooooood.   It looks big but it goes fast and the story and characters are so real and entralling you get lost in them. LOVE.
That's it so far!  I'm about 110 pages into For Whom the Bell tolls by Ernest Hemmingway and it's good, but my word some parts of it are SLOW.  It makes it a little more diffcult to really get into and WANT to read all the tme.  But when it's good, it's good.  I know these were all ranked pretty high, but I started out wth books I really really really wanted to read so I expected it to be that way.  There are bound to be some dud along the way...

Also, I do realize I gave HP 6 stars, but c'mon, it's Harry Potter.  It felt wrong giving HP and Perks the same ranking (sorry Perks! I loved you, I really did!)

Any reccomendations?
